When it came time to write this blog, I thought hard about what to say. I mean, what can you really say about 2020? Plus you are all likely overloaded with information by now.
Then it happened. My new book, The Winter Garden arrived in the mail!
This book of poems and essays by yours truly is the perfect way to end 2020 for me, and hopefully for you. Its main theme is hope, emerging from loss and the icy stillness of a winter garden into the lush aliveness of spring.
It is dedicated to drummer and lyricist Neil Peart of the band Rush who passed away from brain cancer in January of 2020, and contains several works inspired by him. But the book has something for everyone. In it you’ll read about my journeys to Iceland and India, growing up in Los Angeles, The Beach Boys, meeting Rush, incredible coincidences, life, death, and much more.
I have poured my heart and soul into this book and it is an honor to share it with you. Thank you to my editor Bobbie Christmas and my graphic designer Shiela Shinholster for making this dream come true.

I wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season and an inspiring 2021. Hang in there. Hope is on the way.
