Living and Working Programs
For expatriates and their families (1-2 days)
Our Living and Working programs prepare international assignees and their families for successful life in a new country. Why spend a year struggling with culture shock and making friends? We cover all aspects of expatriate life, including business etiquette and protocols, shopping, social life, cultural differences, transportation, country history and background, communication, and more. Highroad expatriate programs are extensive, covering in detail complex topics like the U.S. healthcare system and underlying cultural value differences. Early expatriate return can cost an organization hundreds of thousands of dollars. Give your employees the tools they need to carry out their assignments and be at their best.
Examples of countries on which we have conducted this program include Living and Working in the USA, Germany, China, Thailand, France, Italy, Ireland, England, Saudi Arabia, Korea, the Netherlands, India, and more.
Each Living and Working program includes a “check up” from a Highroad consultant at one month, three months, and six months.
Coming Home
For returning expatriates and their families (1 day)
While moving abroad is challenging, coming home can be equally difficult. Many returning expatriates feel lost and out of touch. Many suffer from reverse culture shock, which hampers productivity and strains family relationships. This program focuses on successful reentry strategies to achieve a positive transition back into the work environment.
Candidate Assessment
For expatriate candidates (2-4 hours plus potential follow-up)
Sending an employee abroad can add up to a million-dollar investment, but how do you know if your candidate has the right skills? Let Highroad put your mind at ease with the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a scientific measurement of intercultural capability. A forty-five minute assessment taken online, the IDI gives employees concrete scores on various aspects of cultural competence. Our certified IDI administrator coaches employees through the results, explains how those results might affect their upcoming international assignment, and follows up with a plan of action.
International Presentation Skills
For expatriates or others required to speak abroad
This program focuses specifically on those who make presentations or attend meetings frequently with international colleagues. We cover introductions, body language, visual aids, presentation design, audience interaction, and more. Learn to speak for success with audiences from around the world.
