Greetings to all,

I cannot believe that 2012 is almost over. Where has the year gone? It seems that only yesterday I was setting my intentions for myself and Highroad Global Services.

At the end of every year I set an overall purpose, and then a series of intentions that will help me to meet that purpose. I call it “The Year of …” and then fill in the blank.

For me, 2012 was called The Year of Connection. I wanted to use technology to find new ways of collaborating with people from all over the world, to embrace more of them into my stories and to hear theirs. There are so many pathways by which to do this: webinars, social media, newsletters, and more. But technology alone could not get me to my goal. To connect more deeply, productively, and happily we need a combination of technology and empathy, the ability to project warmth over the digital divide and pursue relationships even with people we may never meet.

While I still have so many people to reach, I have taken a big step today. I would like to officially welcome you to the new Highroad Global Services website (www.highroaders.com). The site is designed for you to interact with us, to stay in touch, and to share your experiences. I invite you to explore the pages and tell us what you think!

Connection is difficult to define. For some it means an unspoken look between friends, for some it is speaking to a crowd of thousands. But when clients ask me what it takes to be successful in global business, I always respond the same way: It takes the ability to connect consistently and with agility. And it takes intentional effort to maintain the trust that comes from that connection. Otherwise all of the technology in the world will not help you or your team.

I want to take the time to thank all of you for connecting with me through this blog, for your comments, and for being a part of the Highroad journey. I look forward to our continued dialogue.
